Bonners Ferry is home to some of the best fishing in the Northwest.
From Fly fishing high mountain streams and lakes to trolling area
lakes for trout Bonners Ferry has everything for anyone who wants to
slow down and 'Get Outside'.
Kootenai River: The Kootenai River is home to some
of the best trout fishing around. Originating from the Libby Dam in
Montana, the Kootenai River flows out of Lake Kookanusa. This river
provides the perfect habitat for Rainbow Trout, Whitefish and Bull
Trout. There have been Rainbows as big as 30lbs taken from the
Kootenai River, however the average size is 8-20 inches.
The Kootenai River flows from 3,000cfs to 30,000cfs which makes it a
challenging river to fish. To help you get started we have
provided a hatch guide as well as some suggestions from some of our
local anglers to get you started.
Local Lakes: We also have many local lakes that are
home to everything from Trophy Smallmouth Bass, Tiger Muskie and
Rainbow Trout to pan fish like Crappie and Perch. To help you get
started we have a guide to some of our favorite local lakes that
include maps and hatch guides as well as some suggestions on which
artificial and live baits that we like to use. |
